Texas
Paso Fino Horse Association (TxPFHA)
is an organization of Paso Fino owners in Texas, who are interested in
promoting and/or participating in "Pleasure" events with their
Pasos. Our goal is to bring the pleasure to Paso owners in Texas. There
are nearly 500 Paso owners in Texas today, and most of them purchased their horses simply to
enjoy this wonderful breed.
Our hope is to promote
the Paso Fino breed in Texas for all types of events, both Pleasure and
Show. We also want to support the Paso Fino
Horse Association and its local PFHA regions through improved
communications, increased participation in PFHA and regional events, and
encouraging membership in the PFHA and its local regions.
Following are a number of
products and activities we have completed since our beginning in
2001. Most if not all are included on this site for your convenience.
We hope you find them of interest.
TxPFHA
Products & Activities
We will attempt to
keep these pages current as our activities are completed. We will either provide
updated information on this page, or link to our products from this page as they are
developed and completed.
We have linked it to
our "Paso Folks"
page, which you can reach from the navigation bar at the top of this page. At this
time, we have included all the names of PFHA members since 1997 in the database, and added
the current members of SWPFHA. We will continue to add names to this database as we
uncover new Paso owners in Texas, or Paso owners in other states who are interested in our
activities. Currently this database includes over 450 entries.
Our Bylaws were adopted
by our membership at our TxPFHA
Members Meeting on June 24th, 2001 in Conroe, Tx. The bylaws are very similar to those of SWPFHA, but we
have added
additional articles that should emphasize our intent to promote Paso
"Pleasure" events, encourage our membership to participate
in TxPFHA activities, and to encourage autonomy in all local areas throughout the state of
Texas.
We can think of many
questions our Texas Paso owners might have about TxPFHA. In order
to answer some of the more general questions, we have developed this
Q&A page. If you have other questions, please let us know
& we will post them here for others to see...
The Officers and Board Members of the
TxPFHA are volunteers. These volunteers will represent the TxPFHA
for a two year
term, and new elections will be held in October and November of odd
numbered years, with the newly
elected officers taking office the following January. We have posted these officers on our
"Officers"
page that you can view from the navigation bar at the top of this page.
We feel it is extremely important for our new and
continuing Officers and Board Members to fully understand what their job entails, and
understand the responsibilities and authorities this office includes. We
have attempted to do this by developing a detailed Job Description for each office, and we
have posted these Job Descriptions on the "Officers" page, which can be reached from the
navigation bar above, so everyone can determine what these officers are responsible for
and who they need to contact. While we expect these Job Descriptions to change as
time goes on, we have posted the current descriptions for you to view.
We feel it is extremely important for our new members
to understand what the objectives of this new region are, and to fully understand why we
have formed this new association and how we hope it is different than previous
Paso associations in
Texas. In order to accomplish this, we have developed a Mission
Statement, and
outline our objectives for the TxPFHA. We wish to solicit any
and all comments and suggestions from those who are interested in helping us
improve TxPFHA.
We feel it important
for TxPFHA and its officers to be protected from possible problems that
could occur in any equestrian association, therefore we have filed for
incorporation. Additionally, this is a requirement of the PFHA for
the establishment of our new region. We have posted a copy of these
articles for your information on this Web Site.
In our first TxPFHA
meeting on January 14, 2001, our members felt that we should initially
establish Regional Areas and have Area Director positions established, so
our future members can be appropriately represented in their respective
areas of Texas. It was further recommended that we align these areas
with the existing TETRA Regions to foster a better working relationships
in these TxPFHA areas. Three TxPFHA Regional Areas have now been
established.
- Insurance Coverage for
TxPFHA
We feel it is important
to sponsor events like Parades, Fun
Shows, and Trail Rides, so we can get our new members acquainted with one
another as soon as possible.
Therefore, we have established Insurance coverage for these events. Our insurance provider is the American
Horseman's Association. Please visit their web site for
details on coverage...
